Speakr product design

Speakr makes recordings usable: every voice note or video becomes a searchable transcript, a summary, and a set of ways to work with it

The problem

Voice is the fastest way to capture a thought and the most useless way to keep it. People record willingly — calls, lectures, ideas on the move — but the recording lands in a dead zone where search won't find it and eyes can't skim it, so recalling a single line means replaying the whole thing

The hypothesis

We started by asking our own circle — product managers, engineers, designers — and found that everyone recorded their calls while almost nobody came back to them. That was enough to start building, though the circle was narrow: the paying audience turned out to be bloggers, lawyers and journalists, and we only learned that from onboarding answers later

The solution

A recording is a source: the same audio opens as a transcript, a summary, flashcards, a quiz or a chat, whether it came from a voice memo, a YouTube link or a file. In a crowded market we competed on price and attention to detail: search reads the transcripts, nothing keeps you waiting, nothing you delete is lost.

A long transcript is useless on its own: raw voice notes have terrible retention. So each recording opens in five modes, each serving a different job and a different segment: timestamps, summary, flashcards, quiz, and an AI chat about the content.

Search that reads speech

Search runs across transcript bodies, not just titles — you look for a phrase you said, not a filename you don't remember.
